14-19 Child Protection (Birmingham) - Birmingham

Overview

We are pleased to welcome experienced practitioner Tina Rae, Senior Educational Psychologist in Hillingdon. Tina will provide you with the tools you need to effectively identify and support students who are self harming or exhibiting signs of risk.

In addition, Dai Durbridge, from leading education law firm Browne Jacobson, will make clear your legal responsibilities for students in work-based learning so you can ensure they are protected and guide you through the correct procedures for handling allegations against staff.

This conference will provide both practical and legal guidance to help you:

  • Meet the specific safeguarding needs of teenagers, recognise the signs of abuse and feel confident in your referral making
  • Empower your students to handle risk and protect themselves when working off the premises
  • Appropriately deal with issues surrounding confidentiality and information sharing
  • Effectively respond to teenagers’ disclosures of abuse and provide effective support
  • Ensure work-based learning providers
  • Implement effective codes of conduct to keep your students safe
  • Update your recruitment procedures in line with changes to the Vetting and Barring scheme for safer staffing in your organisation
